Nothing can be more confusing than walking into a building for the first time and trying to figure out where a certain business is located. When a person is walking into a new location for a job interview or an important business meeting, there is little time to waste. Forcing them visitors to search for the specific section without a clue where to find it can be confusing. Among the most effective ways to combat this problem is by using indoor directory letter boards.

Businesses inside an office building will be able to post the name of the firm and the floor and office number in a clear and easy to read display. These signs are usually encased in glass with a stainless steel or aluminum frame, and are often put in a central location - either right near the entrance or between the elevators.

Among the most important things for any building manager consider after erecting one of these sign is how to list the names. One common way to list these signs is by listing the businesses by floor. By grouping all of the business on the same floor in the same section, it will make it easier for someone trying to locate them. It can also be a good idea to list the businesses in an alphabetical order, so that people that know the name of the business will have a logical way to see how it is listed, instead of having to go through every name.

Another helpful element of having an indoor directory letter board is for when building tenants change. The signage makes it relatively simple to remove and add in new names. Most of these signs have a place to insert a key and open the case in order to customize the message.

When it comes to the designs of these signs, it is best to think about the overall image of the building already. It is usually best to use a simple color scheme, black and white colors or a non-offensive gray outline. The informational signs can prove to be incredibly useful for both the businesses in the building and those trying to locate them.
