Long lasting and rust free
We use ASTM 3105 sign grade aluminum alloy that is long lasting and rust free even in harsh weather extremes. The heavy gauge sign grade aluminum is .080 inches thick and is not easily vandalized or bent. The aluminum is cleaned and degreased to ASTM B-499 specifications as pretreatment for sheeting applications. A chromic acid conversion coating is applied for weather resistance and the edges are smoothed to prevent injury.
The stroke and spacing of the letter style for these Pedestrian Crosswalk Yield Signs are also designed and field-tested for maximum readability and conform to the design requirements of the Federal Highway Administrations Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices.
Reflective background
All traffic signs must now be reflective, according to the Federal Highway Administration. This product conforms to USDOT FHA standard specifications for construction of roads and bridges on federal highway projects, 1985 FP-85, Type II, Section 718.01. The reflective sheeting is chemical resistant and can withstand temperatures up to 160°F.
The Type IV High Intensity Reflective is made from 3M Series 3930 and exceeds specification ASTM D 4956-04. It has a tougher topcoat that aids against scuffs and scratches. The vivid daytime colors provide 24 hour performance and the improved optical package increases nighttime visibility. The reflective sheeting has 10 year durability.
For all roads open to public travel including parking lots
Title 23 of the Code of Federal Regulations, Part 655.603 states that for the purpose of MUTCD applicability, the phrase "open to public travel" includes toll roads and roads within shopping centers, parking lots, airports, sports arenas, and other similar business and recreation facilities that are privately owned but where the public is allowed to travel without access restrictions.
Holes in sign for easy mounting
We also punch holes in the sign for easy mounting. The holes are 3/8 inch wide and are centered in the middle of the sign, top and bottom. These holes match standard sign posts.
