Alphabet Signs offers custom vinyl letters that you can apply to cars, boat letters, truck graphics, windows, signs, banners, walls or virtually any smooth surface. It is the same vinyl letter material that your local sign shop uses to make decals and stickers. Our vinyl lettering comes with an 8 year guarantee and is an easy do it yourself lettering project.

We provide a squeegee applicator with each order and application instructions are offered online.

Last week we received a customer inquiry about the transfer tape. The transfer tape is what holds the decal or vinyl letters together as it is applied to your sign surface. Once applied the transfer tape is easily removed leaving the vinyl sign letters in place. The customer wanted to know if the transfer tape holds up in humid environments during application.

Simply put, yes it does hold up in humid conditions. The transfer tape is so strong that it can be used for boat lettering and wet applications. But the transfer tape is also designed to fall apart when soaked.

This is not a question that is often asked but one worth additional information.

We use R-Tape 4075 Series, a professional grade application tape popular with sign shops because it lays flat and sticks to the wax liner. It is resistant to wrinkling, tunneling and edge curling even if the vinyl letters have been rolled or stacked. For Alphabet Signs, R-Tape has proven to be trouble free during handling, storage and even shipping.

We have noticed that after several years of storing of your vinyl decal the tape can be more difficult to remove and tears apart. We notice this condition worsens if it is stored in an environment with elevated temperatures. This hasn’t been a problem for our customers because they are usually so excited they install the vinyl stickers right away.

If you are having problems removing the transfer tape then try spraying the paper with water mist, wait about 30 seconds for the water to penetrate the application tape and then remove it. The water softens the tape’s water based adhesive causing it to release easily.

When removing the transfer tape from the vinyl letters, carefully pull back the tape 180 degrees against itself to minimize edge lifting. For more information check out R-Tapes sign transfer tape brochure.

How to Name Your Boat

How does one name his or her boat? Choosing the right name for a boat sign leaves many nautical thrill seekers nervous that they won't be able to settle on the appropriate one. There are various opinions when it comes to the subject, but getting the name right can often be the difference between proudly navigating the waters and floating with a name that not only the owner but, the passengers as well are embarrassed about. Boat signs, while they may seem like a relatively unimportant aspect of seafaring, can add a whole new identity to voyages.

Where do I Get Vinyl Logos Made

Alphabet Signs can make letters, numbers and punctuation in several colors, fonts and sizes. We are not setup to handle logos or graphics, however. To get these made, you will need to try a local sign shop. Some common chains are Signs by Tomorrow, Signarama or FastSigns. Any of those companies should be able to help with larger graphics, too, as we are only set up to handle vinyl lettering up to 12 inches tall.
