Sandwich board signs OK within 20 feet of Greely Colorado business

In a recent meeting, a sign committee in Greeley, Colorado, outlined a new plan to update the sign code, which many have claimed is out of date.
The Greeley Tribune reports that the committee outlined a list of updates to the city's code in a 36-page proposal. The regulations, which haven't been updated in 20 years, were reviewed by members of the committee in order to free the city from "visual clutter" and make it safer.
The 20-person committee was made up of representatives from real estate, downtown businesses, the sign industry and the chamber of commerce and focused on an array of sign issues including A-frame signs. The committee suggested that businesses should be allowed to have sidewalk signs as long as they were located within 20 feet of the establishment, only erected during times when the place is open, no larger than six square feet and not taller than 48 inches.
By getting input from the business and sign making community, the city will likely be able to not only reduce the amount of visual clutter but also create a business-friendly environment. Many times when both the business community and local lawmakers collaborate, it works out for all involved.
